Iridium phones provide you will full satellite coverage around the globe. The phones are rented out including a prepaid Iridium card with sufficient calling value. You are reachable on the temporary Iridium phone number connected to this prepaid card. Iridium phones always communicate via the Iridium satellite network. To be able to call you need view on the satellites, Iridium phones almost never work indoors.
Iridium Phone
We rent out phones of the type Motorola 9505. All phones come in a strong travel case, including a travel charger that enables you to charge your phone worldwide. Iridium phones also come with a 12/24V car/travel charger.
The standby time of this phone is 27 hours, talk time 2,5 hours and the weight is 375 grams.
The Iridium network
The Iridium network provides truly worldwide coverage. It consists of a number of satellites around the globe. Ease of use is about the same as with your regular GSM phone. Iridium phones are slightly larger than the mobile phones used for GSM. It's possible to send free SMS messages to Iridium numbers from the Internet so your family is able to keep you up to date. Pricing
The rental package includes shipping the phone and charger to you in the mail and the actual rent. If you live in or around Stockholm we will deliver the phone personally so we can demonstrate it before you use it. All phones come with an English manual, so even if you live outside the Stockholm area you will be able to prepare properly for usage. After the rental period you confirm the end of your rental period by e-mail and then send the phone back. If you live in the Stockholm area we will make a pick-up appointment with you. The deposit for an Iridium phone is 9.000 sek. Price per minute is an indication of the current Iridium airtime costs, details can be checked on the Iridium website. The indicated airtime requirement will be included on a prepaid Iridium SIM card for the phone. Prices excl. VAT.
